Hi Everyone,

We’re on to May and that means we are full speed ahead planning for the end of the year and the graduation of our beloved class of 2019! Please pay close attention to the “Upcoming Important Dates” section at the bottom of the memo so you can mark your calendars. Here are the communications for this week:

Senior Exams Begin Next Week

Senior exam week begins Monday, May 6 and the complete schedule is posted below. All students are expected to take their finals with their teachers during the scheduled exam blocks. Unless teachers have requested otherwise, students are not expected to attend classes outside of their scheduled exam blocks. However, given the shortened semester due to senior internships, teachers may hold classes outside of the exam blocks if they choose. Students will be informed of any of these scheduling adjustments by Friday, May 3. Students that miss an exam due to an excused absence need to see their teacher as soon as possible to schedule an exam make-up on May 10. Study Support will remain fully staffed and available for students.

Make-Up Exams

Senior Classes Beyond May 6:

OOBHS classes for all seniors will conclude by May 10th unless there are extenuating circumstances such as a need for credit recovery work, AP/College credit classes or Band/Chorus graduation prep classes which require attendance throughout May. Seniors attending BRCOT will continue to attend their normal vocational classes until May 24.

Booster Club Needs Help!

The OOBHS Boosters are hosting their annual Field Day at OOBHS on Friday May 10. They are looking for donations of chips, cookies, Gatorade etc. and volunteers. Please contact oobhsboosters@gmail.com to help!

Art II Classes Visit the Portland Museum of Art

On Friday, April 26 students in Art II foundations courses visited the PMA for a guided highlights tour and a visit to the special exhibition, “Relational Undercurrents” focusing on contemporary art from the Caribbean Islands. Students were impressed and inspired by the variety of paintings, sculptures, and photographs on view. For some students, it was their first time visiting an art museum and they are excited to go back in the future!

Attention Seniors!

Senior trip permission forms and money for senior class dinner are due Thursday, May 9th.

It’s Prom Season Everyone!

This year’s Prom, “Starry Night,” will be held on Saturday, May 11th, at Mariner’s Church in Portland from 7:00-11:00 PM.  Light appetizers, desserts, and soda will be served throughout the evening. Tickets go are on sale they are $60 per person. Tickets will be on sale each day until May 3rd. For all guests who are not current OOBHS students, guest paperwork forms needs to be turned in and approved by Mr. Suttie or Mr. Hanson by 5/3.  It’s shaping up to a be a magical evening. OOBHS Field Day Friday May 10th!

The Boosters are looking for donations of water and baked goods along with anyone (volunteers) who can help this day at OOBHS.  Also, remind your children to see their class officers to sign up for the Relay, Tug of War, and Dunk tank activities.

Regional School Budget Meeting!

Please attend the Regional School Budget Meeting on Tuesday, May 14th at 6PM in the OOBHS Cafeteria. This is the meeting when taxpayers vote on individual articles in the school budget. Please come out and support the budget. Thank you!

Community Service

Students must complete 20 hours of community service as a graduation requirement. Parents of seniors please check with your child to find out if they still have hours to complete. Please contact the guidance office for community service opportunities. We have plenty for the kids to do!
