What I do

Andrea resides in Old Orchard Beach and enjoys walking along the beach, exploring the local ice cream shops, and the ability to easily hop in the car to head up to hike in the White Mountains. She loves winter and is glad that on some days she can cross-country ski right on the beach. Andrea is excited to be a part of the OOBHS community.

Andrea grew up in Minnesota where she gained an appreciation for the natural world, for the lakes, rivers, and rocks that surround us. She attended Northland College earning a B.S. in Geosciences and minored in Environmental Education. Hoping eventually to teach science, Andrea knew she first needed to practice science. She wrote her Master’s thesis about river history while attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Andrea accepted her first teaching job in Maine without ever having to been to the state, figuring it had a large body of water to explore and mountains to climb – just about everything she needed.

Before coming to OOBHS, Andrea was a science teacher at Bonny Eagle High School. While there, she helped start an Outing Club, and was a coach for the girls cross country and track and field teams. Prior to teaching high school, Andrea was an environmental educator at Rocky Mountain National Park.
