Eric Hanson

What I do

Eric lives with his family in Gorham, Maine where they enjoy traveling the world near and far. When in Maine Eric and his family can be found enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family.

 

Eric started his Old Orchard Beach adventure five years ago when he was hired as the Assistant Principal. His first four years he served as the OOBHS Assistant Principal and in the past year he has added the title of Assistant Superintendent of Schools. Eric is passionate about helping students achieve their best and ensuring that RSU 23 delivers relevant, rigorous, and engaging learning experiences for all students.

Eric holds a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology, an M.S.Ed, in Professional Education and a C.A.G.S. in Educational Leadership. Before coming to Old Orchard Beach High School Eric lived in Washington D.C. working as an education specialist at the World Bank. This work took him to regions all around the world including  East Africa and South America. Prior to D.C., Eric worked for eight years teaching all-things-science and co-advising the Outing Club at Windham High School. Additionally, he taught Environmental Science at SMCC. Outside of school Eric is a Registered Maine Guide and has worked as both a whitewater raft and sea kayaking guide.
