Mark Manduca

What I do

A professional trombonist for more than 40 years, Mr. Manduca is a member of the Portland Symphony Orchestra, the Portland Brass, The Portland Jazz Orchestra, the Portland Opera Orchestra, The Portland Ballet Orchestra, Maine Bones, and 5 Cylinder Jazz. His performing career has had him on stage with many of the world’s greatest musicians. In his spare time he reads, does carpentry, stays active athletically, and is a basketball junkie.

Music Director Mark Manduca is currently in his 20th year teaching at OOBHS and in his 41st year of teaching overall. His programs include concert band, marching band, jazz ensemble and combo, music theory, music appreciation and history, music of the cinema, music masterworks, and piano levels 1 and 2. He is an Old Orchard native and a member of his family has taught in the OOB schools for 85 consecutive years!

Mr. Manduca holds a bachelor of science in music education from the University of Maine, and a Master of Music Performance from Boston University. He previously taught at Falmouth High School, Bowdoin College, Bates College, University of Maine Augusta, and has been on the artist faculty of the University of Southern Maine since 1984. He is co-owner and senior editor of Manduca Music Publications.
