What I do

I love exploring the great state of Maine by kayaking, hiking, and biking every trail and waterway I can find! Winter is one of my favorite seasons because I can’t get enough cross country skiing and snowshoeing. At home, I enjoy gardening, hanging out on the patio, and doing puzzles (crossword, cryptoquip, and jigsaw). My favorite COVID lifestyle change has been getting the chance to walk my two dogs with my husband every morning, which we never had time to do before!

Mrs. Skovran joins Old Orchard Beach High School for the 2020-21 school year as the Chemistry, Physics, and Robotics teacher. Her previous teaching experience includes Earth Science, Physical Science, Ecology, Engineering, and Robotics classes. She has also served as a Technology Instructional Leader, helping teachers to plan technology-rich lessons to enhance their curriculums.

Mrs. Skovran graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences Education degree in 2006. She taught in Mandan, North Dakota, for seven years before moving to Maine in 2014. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching Science degree from Minot State University in 2015.

In the community, Mrs. Skovran volunteers for the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust as an Alewife Fish Counter and a Water Quality Steward every spring and summer. She has also served as a hiking and snowshoeing leader for Windham Raymond Adult Education and the Appalachian Mountain Club.
