What I do

I live in Windham, Maine with my family. I am fond of adventures and continue to travel the world at every opportunity. I have spent time all over the globe, counting Peru, Mexico, China, Italy, Costa Rica, and Spain among my favorite destinations. When I am not exploring, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running, reading, gardening, and practicing yoga.

I have been teaching at the high school in our oceanside community of Old Orchard Beach since 2003. I aspire to expand the worldviews of my students through the study of the Spanish language. My engaging approach to classroom teaching includes the use of thematic units based on real life situations, competitive vocabulary acquisition games, and communication activities centered in a sphere of cultural awareness.

I grew up in Massachusetts in a family that valued global consciousness. My parents immigrated to the United States when I was young and they created a family in which travel, both domestic and international, as well as foreign language acquisition, were the norm. I continued my language and culture studies at Bowdoin College, in Brunswick Maine. I graduated in 2002 with a degree in Romance Languages and Mathematics, as well as my certification to teach K-12 Spanish.
