What I do

Ms. Haines loves being outdoors and near the ocean. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and cat. She loves to travel and have experiences that introduce her to new perspectives, people and cultures. She likes to read, go for walks and create her own art when she finds the time.

Ms. Haines is in her fourth year at Old Orchard Beach High School. She runs the Visual Arts program, offering a range of foundation, elective and advanced art classes in two- and three- dimensional design. She is also the department head for the Allied Arts team and the advisor of the OOBHS Art Club. Ms. Haines is a trained artist and loves sharing her passion with students and showing each individual that there is an artist in them — as long as they are willing to try!

Ms. Haines has been working in art education for more than ten years in a variety of settings, from the classroom to community programs to museums. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design. She has been lucky to live and teach in many places, including Washington, D.C., Boston, MA, New York City and as far away as Cameroon in central Africa, where she served as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer doing projects in youth development, agroforestry and women’s empowerment.
