What I do

Emma lives in Portland and loves to walk around the city and explore the various shops and restaurants Portland has to offer. Emma is considered a “foodie” and is always willing to try new restaurants on weekends, and during the week, cook up different recipes on her own. Being new to Portland, Emma has joined an adult basketball league to meet new people and continue to play her favorite sport. Her games are every Thursday at the JCC, so come cheer her on!

Emma is from New York City and has had the pleasure of spending every summer up in Maine, either at Higgins Beach or Fayette, at Camp Vega. She graduated from the University of Vermont for her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education in 2014 and then attended the University of Missouri for her Master’s Degree in Education, where she graduated in 2016. While Emma enjoyed her two years in St. Louis, Missouri, there’s nothing that can beat waking up to the smell of the ocean.

After graduating from UVM, Emma joined Teach for America where she was placed in inner city St. Louis. She taught sixth grade there for two years, at an inner city public charter school, while also attending Graduate School. During her time there, she worked with students on expanding their knowledge, awareness, and will to advocate for racial and economic inequalities and hardship. After her two year commitment, she moved back to the East Coast and up to Maine, where she taught English at Lewiston High School for a year, before she accepted a position at OOBHS.
