What I do
Miss Tomecka lives in Windham, Maine with her family. She is fond of adventures and continues to travel the world at every opportunity. She has spent time all over the globe, counting Peru, Mexico, China, Italy, Costa Rica, and Spain among her favorite destinations. When she isn’t exploring, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, reading, gardening, and practicing yoga.
Miss Tomecka has been teaching at the high school in our oceanside community of Old Orchard Beach since 2003. She aspires to expand the worldviews of her students through the study of the Spanish language. Her engaging approach to classroom teaching includes the use of thematic units based on real life situations, competitive vocabulary acquisition games, and communication activities centered in a sphere of cultural awareness.
Miss Tomecka grew up in Massachusetts in a family that valued global consciousness. Her parents immigrated to the United States when Miss Tomecka was young and they created a family in which travel, both domestic and international, as well as foreign language acquisition, were the norm. Miss Tomecka continued her language and culture studies at Bowdoin College, in Brunswick Maine. She graduated in 2002 with a degree in Romance Languages and Mathematics, as well as her certification to teach K-12 Spanish.
