What I do

Mike currently lives in the East End of Portland where he serves on the board of directors for the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization. He plays the guitar as a hobby, so Mike enjoys attending shows and open mic performances. Finally, Mike enjoys exercise, including yoga, disc golf, and nature walking.

Mike Brennan grew up in Milton, Massachusetts developed a love of history from his parents and grandparents. After graduating from Milton High School, Mike attended the University of Maine Farmington, majoring in secondary education with a social studies concentration. After teaching for several years, he started to pursue graduate work in history, earning a Masters degree in 2012, and a Ph.D in American History in 2019 from the University of Maine.

Before Old Orchard Beach, Mike worked at Leavitt High School in Turner, Maine for 15 years. During this time, he taught a variety of classes, including United States History, AP US History, and numerous semester electives. Because of his relationships with students, Mike developed a love for education and teaching that he plans to continue at OOBHS. For Mike, the most important part of working in a school is helping students to meet their academic and life potential. He is happy to work at a job where he can help people to grow and find their path as young adults.
