Principal’s Memo

I hope you all had a good week. First semester grades are in and report cards will be emailed home by 5PM today. If you have any questions about your child’s grades please contact their classroom teachers. Here are this week’s communications:
Important SAT Prep Information for Juniors!
Did you know that the SATs are Tuesday, April 9? Well, there’s an 8-week SAT prep class starting on Monday, 2/4.
English with Ms. Kantro in room 108 on 2/4, 2/11, 2/25, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1.
Math with Mr. Lucchese in room 210 2/7, 2/13, 2/27, 3/7, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27, 4/3
All sessions are an hour and will begin promptly at 2:55. Any interested students need to see Mr. Lucchese or Ms. Kantro by Friday, February 1 to sign-up.
Second Semester Schedules
The second semester has begun. If students need to make any changes to their schedule they can see their guidance counselor.
Winter Formal
The Student Council will be hosting this year’s Winter Formal on Friday, February 15th from 7:00-10:00 in the high school gym. Tickets are $10, if you purchase before the dance, (they will be selling during lunches 2/11-2/15) or $15 at the door. If you have any questions please send an email to the advisor, Ms. Wright, awright@rsu23.org.
Federal Shutdown Impact
If federal employees impacted by the shutdown would like to apply for school meal benefits for their children, they may so do through their local school district.
To apply – A special application can be downloaded from the Maine Department of Education’s website (linked below) and submitted to your local school’s food service program.

Community Service!
Students must complete 20 hours of community service as a graduation requirement. Parents of seniors please check with your child to find out if they still have hours to complete. Please contact the guidance office for community service opportunities. We have plenty for the kids to do!
OOBHS Boosters Need Help!
OOBHS Boosters are in desperate need of help for the girls basketball games. Please go to https://www.volunteersignup.org/KB77Y to sign up and help. Students can earn community service hours toward graduation
The 2018-2019 Old Orchard Beach High School Yearbook is now for sale!
You can purchase a yearbook online, or send an order form and cash/check into the Main Office.

The Yearbook will be $40.00 now through January 31st.
The Yearbook will cost $50.00 February 1st-28th.
