Principal’s Memo
Posted onHi Everyone,
As we cruise into Memorial Day weekend (there is no school on Monday in observance of the holiday) please check with your child about their academic progress to ensure all obligations are completed prior to June 13th. Things are moving smoothly here at the high school as students are looking forward to graduation, the great weather, and a positive end to the year! Please pay close attention to the “Upcoming Important Dates” section at the bottom of the memo so you can mark your calendars. Here are the communications for this week!
Morgan Rooney!
Congratulations to Morgan Rooney, who was voted graduation Honor Essayist for the Class of 2019.
Spring Concert
Wonderful job Monday night by the band and chorus. The talent and performance was amazing! Wonderful job by the allied arts department hosting their open house as well!
Senior Class Trip
The class of 2019 will be traveling to the Forks for an overnight white water rafting experience on Tuesday May 28th. Students going on the trip need to be at the High School at 12:30 for a bag check in the gym. We will leave the high school at 1:00 pm. We will return to the high school on the 29th around 5:00 pm. Trip attendees should be prepared for a chilly night of sleep. Sleeping bags, hats, layers of clothes are all recommended to ensure a comfortable night. Please see Mrs. Nason, if you have more questions about the trip.
Travel Abroad Opportunity!
This year, a group of students spent their April Break in Costa Rica. Next year, we are going to Italy!! To learn more about this exciting travel experience, and determine if the trip is a good fit for your student, join Ms. Jaffe in the high school library on Wednesday May 29th at 6:30pm for an informational meeting. We will go over all the trip details, and enrollment information will be provided.
This travel experience is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and open to all students who will be at the high school next year. Don’t miss out on the chance to give your student an incredible, life changing experience. Email sjaffe@rsu23.org with any questions.
Senior Classwork
OOBHS classes for all seniors are concluded unless there are extenuating circumstances such as a need for credit recovery work, AP/College credit classes or Band/Chorus graduation prep classes which require attendance throughout May. Seniors attending BRCOT will continue to attend their normal vocational classes until today.
OOBHS Field Day Friday June 7th!
The OOBHS Boosters are hosting their annual Field Day at OOBHS on Friday June 7. They are looking for donations of chips, cookies, Gatorade etc. and volunteers. Please contact oobhsboosters@gmail.com to help! Also, remind your children to see their class officers to sign up for the Relay, Tug of War, and Dunk tank activities.
Community Service
Students must complete 20 hours of community service as a graduation requirement. Parents of seniors please check with your child to find out if they still have hours to complete. Please contact the guidance office for community service opportunities. We have plenty for the kids to do!
