What I do

During my free time, I enjoy camping, fishing, and snowmobiling with my family. I also enjoy taking walks on the beach, yoga, hiking, traveling and dining at a variety of restaurants. I am the co-chair of the Bash for Beamis volunteer committee, a fundraiser that raises money for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital diabetes fund. I also volunteer yearly at the Ride for Autism which was created in honor of her nephew who has autism.

I graduated from Scarborough High School in 1992. I went on to the University of Southern Maine and received an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts in 1995. In 1997 I received an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Southern Maine Community College.

While attending college I worked at an in-home daycare in Scarborough. There I began a one to one position working with old child who was totally blind. Eventually, after being nanny and 1:1 support in nursery school I was hired to be an Educational Technician at Jameson Elementary School for this child. I continued to work 1:1 with the student pre-K through grade 12. I completed an independently taught Braille course which was mentored by a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired. This skill allowed me to emboss, read and teach Braille. I translated all assigned print material to Braille for 14 years.  I continue my work as a Special Education Educational Technician in the Life Skills classroom here at Old Orchard Beach High School.
