What I do
I currently live in the East End of Portland where I serves on the board of directors for the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization. I play the guitar as a hobby, so I enjoy attending shows and open mic performances. Finally, I enjoy exercise, including yoga, disc golf, and nature walking.
I grew up in Milton, Massachusetts and developed a love of history from my parents and grandparents. After graduating from Milton High School, I attended the University of Maine Farmington, majoring in secondary education with a social studies concentration. After teaching for several years, I started to pursue graduate work in history, earning a Masters degree in 2012, and a Ph.D in American History in 2019 from the University of Maine.
I began as a teacher in OOBHS in 2019. Before Old Orchard Beach, I worked at Leavitt High School in Turner, Maine for 15 years. During this time, I taught a variety of classes, including United States History, AP US History, and numerous semester electives. Because of my relationships with students, I developed a love for education and teaching. For me, the most important part of working in a school is helping students to meet their academic and life potential. I am happy to work at a job where I can help people to grow and find their path as young adults.
