What I do

I have three children, two dogs, one wonderful wife, and enjoy taking advantage of the many opportunities for recreation along our Maine coast. I love Maine and New England, but retain primary allegiance to the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles, not to mention the Maryland Terrapins and Baylor Bears.

I began working as a Special Educator at Old Orchard Beach High School in January of 2021. I came to OOB during the pandemic and appreciate the beautiful setting and intimate size of OOBHS. I teach courses in Math and History, and supports classes in Social Studies. I earned my BA from the University of Maryland, College Park and my Ph.D. in Anthropology from Tulane University.

I taught at Windham High School before coming to OOB, and before that was an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Baylor University in Texas for fifteen years. I have authored multiple books and journal articles on the Maya of Guatemala and besides Texas and Maine I have lived in New Orleans, Baltimore, Washington DC, Guatemala and Honduras.
